Acupressure at Sanyinjiao SP-6 is an effective method to decrease maternal anxiety and analgesic consumption during labour, according to Iranian investigators. One hundred and thirty-one pregnant women in labour were randomly allocated to receive acupressure, a touch control or routine care. Mean anxiety in the acupressure group was significantly decreased compared with both control groups within 30 minutes of starting the intervention and 30 minutes after termination of the intervention. Sedative and analgesic consumption was also significantly lower in the experimental group compared to the other two groups.
