Acupuncture shows beneficial effects in peripheral neuropathy, according to the American authors of a systematic review. Fifteen studies of acupuncture for neuropathy were examined. The majority of RCTs showed benefit for acupuncture over control in the treatment of diabetic neuropathy, Bell's palsy, carpal tunnel syndrome and HIV-related neuropathy. Acupuncture also appears to improve nerve conduction study parameters in both sensory and motor nerves.
