Low level evidence from RCTs currently supports acupuncture as an effective treatment for menopausal symptoms, conclude Chinese systematic review authors. Six studies with a total of 419 patients were included in their analysis. Compared with sham, significant differences in favour of acupuncture were found at the end of treatment, and up to at least three month follow-up, both for overall menopause symptom scores and for psychological, somatic and urogenital sub-domains.
