Chinese authors of a systematic review of acupuncture for primary dysmenorrhoea have concluded that current evidence suggests it may be effective. Twenty-three trials involving 2770 patients were included in the review. Only six trials were evaluated as having a low risk of bias, of which three indicated that acupuncture was significantly more effective than sham or no treatment.
