Acupuncture may hold promise as a safe and useful adjunctive treatment for patients with Parkinson's disease (PD). A systematic review by Korean authors looked at 42 studies involving 2625 patients. Participants treated using a combination of acupuncture and conventional medication (CM) showed significant improvements in clinical rating scales for Parkinson’s compared with those treated using CM alone. The combination of electro-acupuncture or scalp electro-acupuncture with CM was also significantly superior to CM alone.
