A Chinese herbal formula, Bushen Jiangya (BSJYO) granules, shows a positive effect on left ventricular diastolic dysfunction (LVDD) in hypertensive patients. In a Chinese study, 120 patients diagnosed with hypertension plus LVDD were randomly assigned to the BSJY granule group or a placebo group, with all patients receiving standard western medicine (WM) treatment. After eight weeks of treatment, markers of left ventricular function showed significant improvement in the BSJYO plus WM group. Treatment response rates and TCM symptom scores also showed significant improvement in the BSJY group, compare with WM alone.
