Acupuncture can reduce medical expenditure in migraine patients according to a retrospective cohort study from Taiwan. Comparing data from 2385 patient records, they found that medical expenditures on emergency care and hospitalisation were significantly lower in the group of 477 migraine patients who underwent acupuncture treatment, compared with those that did not receive acupuncture.
