This case report demonstrates the ability of acupuncture to enhance the recovery of a patient suffering
from symptoms associated with Bell’s palsy where conventional treatment had failed. Prior to acupuncture
intervention, the patient had experienced acute facial paralysis and had been prescribed conventional allopathic
medical treatment, resulting in minimal resolution of symptoms. Due to symptom persistence, the patient sought
acupuncture treatment. Following four weeks of treatment, consisting of a specific acupuncture protocol along
with a Chinese herbal prescription, noticeable recovery was observed. The patient reported a decrease in
symptoms including jaw pain, paraesthesia of the lips and right-sided mouth and eye deviation.
