Helicobacter Pylori and Chinese Herbal Medicine

This contribution was inspired by the experience of treating a patient who had tested positive for Helicobacter Pylori (HP) but had not responded to conventional treatment. I wanted to deepen my knowledge of the condition and to look at the research evidence regarding treatment with Chinese herbal medicine (CHM), and thus to enhance the care of my patient while also contributing to the wider knowledge base of the Chinese medicine profession as a whole. In the course of the research it became apparent that the topic had far-reaching implications and the task quickly grew into a larger enquiry than originally anticipated.
