This study systematically analyses and contrasts the applications of acupoint Neiguan P-6 in classical Chinese texts and modern literature to identify dominant therapeutic patterns and propose a structured nosological categorisation. A comprehensive digital and manual compilation was conducted between 2022 and 2026, encompassing historically relevant classical Chinese medical treatises, modern textbooks and scientific journals from mainland China, Hong Kong and Canada. Analysis of a final subdataset of 382 clinical combinations involving Neiguan P-6 revealed sharp polarisation, with 72.25 per cent (n = 276) of all records concentrated within just four primary clinical domains: gastrointestinal system disorders (22.51 per cent; n = 86), neuropsychiatric disorders (21.20 per cent; n = 81), circulatory system disorders (17.54 per cent; n = 67) and locomotor system disorders (10.99 per cent; n = 42). Within specific niches, Neiguan P-6 demonstrated absolute statistical dominance, appearing in 54.10 per cent of combinations for palpitations, 44.60 per cent for gastralgia and 41.30 per cent for insomnia. In conclusion, Neiguan P-6 demonstrates consistent, reproducible and highly polarised clinical patterns across historical and contemporary literature, providing a robust, evidence-based synthesis that supports clinical standardisation, enhances academic curricula and establishes clear directives to guide future high-impact randomised controlled trials.
