A quantification model of Traditional Chinese Medicine syndromes in children with idiopathic precocious puberty and early puberty
Precocious puberty involves the appearance of signs of puberty at an excessively early age (and frequently involves disruptive mood changes). The authors of this study designed a questionnaire to study 167 girls under the age of nine years old. They conclude that the primary Chinese medicine diagnostic pattern involved in the early onset of puberty is hyperactive Liver fire due to yin deficiency. The other two commonly-associated patterns identified were depressed Liver qi turning into fire, and retention of damp-heat. [Oct 2013]
