Acupuncture adds benefit to analgesics during oocyte retrieval
Adding acupuncture to analgesic therapy is more effective than drug therapy alone for reducing pain during oocyte retrieval. Chinese authors carried out a systematic review on data from 14 randomised trials involving 2503 women. Acupuncture combined with sedation and analgesia was associated with less intraoperative (standardised mean difference -1.03) and postoperative (SMD = -1.11) pain compared with drug therapy alone.
